Méribel is, in our opinion, the best ski resort in the world, and each year it only gets better.
This year, ahead of the grand opening on 8th December 2018, the experts have been hard at work making sure the Three Valleys retains its position as one of the ultimate skiing destinations. There have been changes on and off the pistes to improve comfort and pleasure for skiers - and extra attention has been paid to the fine details which'll make your Méribel ski holiday even more magical.
These are the big changes coming to Méribel for the 18/19 ski season.
Méribel is investing over €15 million in the Roc de Fer area over the next two years - and this winter, two new high speed 6 seater chairlifts will begin service.
In 2018/19 you'll also be able to head to the top of the Meribel valley in style in the newly refurbished Mont Vallon gondola boasting 8 comfortable seats per cabin and panoramic views over the full ski area. At the top is a dramatic glacial environment that opens up before your eyes, and two famous red pistes to delight and challenge good skiers. Long, steep, demanding, inspiring - this is technical skiing at its best!
A Méribel ski holiday is for everyone - and Méribel is officially one of the best resorts in the world for families, having won several awards over the past few years. Here are a couple of big changes.
The green 'Ours' nature piste /reserve (piste de l'ours) is being extended. This'll allow skiers and snowboarders to discover this secret nature reserve in an even more fun way. There are plenty of things to see: look out for wild hares, golden eagles and ancient cembro pines. This gentle ski is refreshing and soothing: a real return to nature - just what you and your children need during your ski holidays!
A new picnic spot with a difference is set to open. Trappers Cabin, at the top of the Roc de Tougne - facing Mont Blanc and Saulire - will be the perfect spot for a relaxing lunch with a breathtaking view! Of course it is Meribel after all and so all the modcons such as glove warmers and chargers for your smartphones will be available as well as the view. No excuses for not getting the perfect shot!
After all of last year's 5-star reviews - we've been planning to make sure our ski chalets in meribel are even better too this season. Check our latest prices and availability but hurry, the weeks are going fast and there are very few of them left!!
Improvements to ski lifts & access

- Draglift replacement: the difficult to use Cherferie draglift is being replaced and the new lift will take skiers to the top in just 4 minutes. This will allow more people to access the delightful blue Choucas piste and Belleville Valley.
- The Legends: a new premium chairlift in La Chaudanne will replace the Plan de l’Homme lift and Roc de Fer lifts. It'll take skiers to the top in a mere 4 minutes 40 seconds. There will be 6 thermally-regulated seats, with pull-down shields to give welcome shelter on those cold snowy days.
