Yes, twelve years since the championships were last held in France, Méribel and Courchevel won the bid for this year’s championships. So we are enjoying twelve days of excitement, inspiration and general festivity as the 47th championship ensues 6th to 19th Feb, in our very own coeur des 3 vallées, beautiful Méribel.
Having hosted parts of the 1992 Winter Olympic games Méribel and Courchevel have form – good form! Méribel is hosting the women’s and mixed events on Roc de Fer, Choucas and Eterlou pistes. Don’t worry only 4 % of Méribel’s slopes are taken up with the events.
Watch the world’s best skiiers in action. Get inspired. And hit the slopes with renewed verve (caveat: combined with realistic ambitions you can celebrate aprés ski rather than regret in l’hôpital …)
The fastest women skiers reportedly reach 120km/hr in the final wall. Wow.

Highlights in Méribel include: 6 Feb 11am Women’s Alpine Combined – that was yesterday! 1st place Federica BRIGNONE (Italy), 2nd place Wendy HOLDENER (Switzerland) and 3rd place Ricarada HAASER (Austria 8 Feb 12pm Women’s super-G 11 Feb 12pm Women’s downhill 14 Feb 1pm Men’s & Women’s parallel slalom 15 Feb 1pm Team parallel slalom 16 Feb 10am Women’s giant slalom 18 Feb 10am Women’s slalom Head here for the full sports program At the time of writing France and Italy are currently in the lead with 1 gold medal each. Check out the VIP corner with open bar We’ve also been checking out the off-piste festivities – great music and food to be enjoyed in Chaudanne at the foot of the Roc de Fer racing piste. There is a wide range of musical genres, and artists lined up to play live. Musical accompaniment to the ski-ing bonanzas on the slopes include melodic Ben L’Oncle Soul, fun Big Ukulélé Syndicate, chill electric dj Synapson, and French roots reggae from Danakil to mention a few.
